What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture has been around for more than 2,500 years. It originated in China, and is now used to heal millions of people around the world.
Acupuncture is based on the principle of energy or “chi”. The energy in our bodies travel through certain pathways or “meridians”. When disease or pain arises, it is said to be due to the energy becoming blocked or interrupted in these meridians. These interruptions can occur from a number of factors, such as, your emotions (stress), poor nutrition, physical trauma, infections, and lifestyle choices (smoking, drinking, etc.) The body is then in an unbalanced state.
Acupuncture is used to bring your body back to a balanced state. Where energy can flow freely.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture works by inserting painless, hair-thin needles into the body. They are inserted along the meridians to balance the flow of energy. The meridians chosen are based on each individuals treatment plan.
The needles are sterile and used one time only before being thrown away. During a treatment the needles are left in place for 15-20min. Most people are so relaxed during the treatment, they tend to take a well deserved nap.
